Let's take a minute to look back and rediscover some classic cannabis strains, and why not throw in one or two you might be meeting for the first time? Let's get stuck in and rediscover Paradise Seeds and its Finest Seed Collection.
Paradise Seeds
There seems to be a new seed bank or breeder every day. However, back in the day, you'd be lucky if you could track down a dozen. Things have changed in a big way. Breeders and seedbanks now come from the world over, from the UK to LA and everywhere in between. But back in the late 80s and early 90s, there was only one place you could reliably source cannabis seeds, and that was Amsterdam.
Many original seedbanks and breeders were either based in or came from the Netherlands. As a result, Amsterdam became the epicentre for hot new breeders and some of the most exciting cannabis strains. One of the most iconic started in a squat a stone's throw from Central Station and has won every award worth winning. Paradise Seeds began in 1994 and, within a year, had won the High Times Cup. Almost 30 years on, the Dutch Seedbank has been one of the most progressive seedbanks. Paradise has flexed and moved with time, from celebrity collaborations with Tommy Chong to providing the genetics for the first medical grow in Latin America. So why not dip in and rediscover Paradise Seeds and its Finest Seed Collection?
Rediscover Paradise Seeds
Sensi Star
There's only one place to start on this journey of rediscovery, and that's with the indica heavyweight that started it all. Sensi Star won the High Times Cup in 1999, propelling Paradise Seeds to cannabis stardom. Sensi Star won various awards and cups the following decade and is as popular today as it was at its inception. Sensi Star is super potent and known as the OG heavy hitter. Its pure indica yields contain between 15 - 20% THC content and will flower in 8-9 weeks.
Sweetopia
One of the newer strains in the Finest Seed Collection, Sweetopia is the go-to strain for taste and aroma connoisseurs. It's an exotic mix of Citral and Thin Mint with high THC levels and a mouth-watering terpene mix of citrus fruits, hash and gas. This will give any flavour a run for its money and is a fine example of what can be done when you favour consistency over bulk. For those growers who love their terpenes, this is an exotic strain with the connoisseur's nose twitching at its unique and vibrant terpene profile. Expect the full spectrum of citrus scents to reveal themselves in the Sweetopia aroma, which is alive with the tangy smell of lemons, limes and clementines. This mostly indica will take 8-9 weeks to flower and will yield high with a THC content of over 20%.
Wappa
Another classic cannabis strain, this time in the form of Wappa. Wappa is thought to be the most stable strain in the Paradise Seeds collection. And that is saying something for a company famed for its stable strains. Growing reports suggest that Wappa excels at everything from topping and extending the veg to SOG and SCROG. Paradise hit the jackpot with Wappa, with the proof being the countless times it was used as a breeding basis by other breeders. It's not the stability that makes Wappa worth a second glance; it will get you nice and high and taste good. Wappa's fruity nugs are great head candy, creating an intense high. The buzz comes on strong, with a pleasant onset. It is a luminous high that nudges open the doors of perception. Expect this indica hybrid to flower in 7-8 weeks and contain flowers with a THC > 15%.
Highway 66
Highway 66 by Paradise Seeds is one of their most potent strains. This Sativa hybrid is supped up by the US and packed to the brim with Dutch craft and knowledge. A cross of the Cannabis Champions Cup winner LA Amnesia and the iconic Gelato 33, Highway 66 will get you on the road like few other sativa hybrids. This strain has the pedigree and the yield to go with it. Indoors, you could expect anywhere up to 550 per m², but outdoors (you better get your chainsaw), Highway 66 could yield up to 1000 grams per plant. This fruity Gelato Haze cross with flower in 8-9 weeks and produces a hefty 25% THC content.
Chocolate Wafflez
Chocolate Wafflez is a stylish Californian sativa (70% sativa / 30% indica) baked with extra goodness thanks to the perfect ingredient mix of award-winning Paradise and USA cannabis genetics. It tastes damn fine and punches high above its weight, too, with a hefty THC count of> 21%; this sativa hybrid is a sprinter for the finish line with a quicker finish time than many sativas. It will flower in 9-10 weeks and is another massive yielder, with an expected indoor harvest of 600 g per m2 and an outdoor payload of 1000 grams per plant. There's no messing with Chocolate Wafflez; it is a powerhouse hybrid that blends the best of Dutch and US genetics.
