Week 10: Beautiful Bud Structures, satisfying aromas
Week 10 and these ladies are looking absolutely stunning! The Bubblegum and Rolex Runtz are in full bloom, packing on weight and showing off their impressive bud structures. The grow tent is filled with a thick, sweet, and gassy aroma that makes it hard to walk past without stopping for a deep inhale. With just a few more weeks to go, things are shaping up for a fantastic harvest. The plants are thriving, with lush, perky leaves and a canopy that's full to the brim.
Appearance of the plants
The buds have taken on their final forms, and they are nothing short of impressive. Bubblegum is developing that classic round, frosty look, while Rolex Runtz is stretching slightly with those dense, trichome-heavy nugs. The full canopy is a sight to behold—thick, uniform, and bursting with vibrant green leaves that are still reaching for the light. The resin production is through the roof, with sticky trichomes coating every surface. At this point, every bud is sparkling, and the plants are standing tall, looking super healthy and happy.
The taste & smell
The aroma is hitting peak levels now. Bubblegum is throwing off an intense, candy-like sweetness that fills the air, while Rolex Runtz is coming through strong with its fuel-heavy, gassy profile. Together, they create a smell that’s almost too good to be true. Every time you step near the grow tent, it’s like opening a fresh bag of candy with a diesel kick. If the aroma is anything to go by, the flavors are going to be just as rich and delicious once they’re cured.
Effects
Although we’re still a few weeks away from testing the final product, these plants are looking like they’ll deliver a knockout punch. Bubblegum is expected to bring that balanced, euphoric high with a smooth, sweet exhale, while Rolex Runtz should deliver a heavier, more relaxing effect with a gassy finish. The trichomes are showing mostly cloudy with a few clears still hanging on, so in another couple of weeks, they’ll be just right for peak potency and flavor.
Growing characteristics/yield
Everything is on track for a strong finish. With just a couple more weeks left, the plants are getting their final feeding adjustments, and trichome tracking is happening daily to determine the perfect harvest window. Yields are looking fantastic—thick, well-developed buds all the way through the canopy. The structure has held up beautifully, and thanks to a steady environment, there have been no major issues with deficiencies or stress. At this point, it's all about letting them finish strong before the final flush and chop.

Week 8: Pistils and trichomes
We’re now 8 weeks in, and both Bubblegum and Rolex Runtz are flourishing. Pistils are everywhere, trichomes are stacking fast, and the buds are filling out beautifully. The tent is bursting with aroma, with Bubblegum leading in intensity, giving off a sweet, candy-like scent, while Rolex Runtz has a fruity, gassy undertone.
Appearance
Both strains are deep green, lush, and perky, with pistil-covered buds expanding rapidly. Rolex Runtz remains slightly stockier with dense, tight calyxes, while Bubblegum is stretching a bit more but stacking just as well. Trichomes are now visible on sugar leaves and even fan leaves, signaling early resin production.
Grow Characteristics
Buds are swelling fast, and both strains are handling the conditions perfectly. Humidity and airflow are being carefully managed as their dense foliage and sticky trichomes continue to develop. Rolex Runtz is bulking up, while Bubblegum keeps pushing its sweet scent to the max.
Expectations
With resin production in full swing, we expect even more frost, bud swelling, and aroma intensity over the next week. The tent is already smelling amazing, and it’s only going to get better. Stay tuned—Week 9 is going to be a seriously sticky one!

Week 7: First signs of flowering..
Both strains are now fully into the flowering stage, with pistils forming on all plants. It has been 10 days since switching to 12/12, and everything is looking incredibly healthy, lush, and vibrant. The plants are soaking up the light, with perky, deep green leaves that show no signs of stress. Rolex Runtz is slightly ahead in size, with a bushier structure and thicker leaves, while Bubblegum is a bit slimmer but still just as vigorous. With the first signs of flowering kicking in, the next few weeks will be crucial for bud formation.
Plant Appearance & Growth Characteristics
Bubblegum is standing at around 70 cm, with a more open structure and slightly thinner leaves. It has a leaner, stretchier frame, allowing light to penetrate deep into the canopy. Its branches are strong but not as thick as Rolex Runtz, which gives it a classic hybrid look with well-spaced nodes that should allow for some nice, stacked colas.
Rolex Runtz, on the other hand, has grown a little taller, reaching around 72-75 cm, with thicker leaves and more compact lateral branching. Its dense, bushy growth pattern is more pronounced, and it has a slightly more indica-like structure compared to the Bubblegum. The plants have recovered perfectly from topping, and the net has done a great job spreading out the canopy, ensuring even light distribution for optimal bud development.
Flowering Progress & Expectations
Both strains are now visibly flowering, with pistils forming on all tops. Rolex Runtz seems to be slightly ahead in development, with stronger lateral growth and early bud formation. Its structure suggests it could be a heavy yielder, with thick colas forming on multiple branches.
Bubblegum, while a bit slimmer in structure, is showing steady and consistent progress, with pistils emerging evenly across the plant. Its longer internodes suggest tall, stacked buds, which could lead to some impressive final colas. Over the next two weeks, we expect a surge in pistil production, followed by early trichome formation. The race is on, and it will be exciting to see which strain pulls ahead in bud density and yield potential as flowering progresses!

Week 6: Steady growth.. Switch to flowering.
Week 6 is here, and the Bubblegum and Rolex Runtz are thriving! The plants have bounced back beautifully after topping, standing tall at around 60-70 cm. The net has done its job, spreading out the canopy for even light distribution. We’ve just flipped the light cycle to 12/12, officially kicking off the flowering phase. Rolex Runtz is wasting no time, already showing the first pistils—this grow-off is heating up!
Appearance
Both strains are looking lush, with deep green, healthy leaves stretching towards the light. The plants are uniform in structure, with strong lateral branching, thanks to the topping and net training. The Rolex Runtz is slightly ahead, showing the first signs of flowering with delicate white pistils emerging. Bubblegum is holding steady, with thick stems and vibrant foliage, ready to explode into bloom any day now.
Grow Characteristics
The netting has done an excellent job of keeping the canopy level, ensuring even growth across all plants. The topping earlier in the grow set them back briefly, but they’ve fully recovered, pushing out new growth rapidly. The transition to the flowering phase has been smooth, with no signs of stress or deficiencies. Both strains are drinking more water and starting to stretch, which is a good indicator of what’s coming next.
Expectations
Now that the flowering phase has begun, we expect Rolex Runtz to take an early lead with its fast-flowering genetics. Bubblegum might take a bit longer but should reward us with dense, resinous buds. The stretch over the next couple of weeks will determine how well they fill out, but so far, the plants are looking strong. The next update should bring more visible bud formation and some early aroma development—exciting times ahead!

Week 4: Prepping for Flowering
Week 4 of our Bubblegum vs. Rolex Runtz grow-off is here, and things are looking fantastic! Both strains are thriving, lush, and vibrant. This week, we topped all four plants and added a trellis net to encourage an even canopy. With flowering just around the corner, excitement is building!
Appearance
The plants are thriving with healthy, green foliage. Rolex Runtz stands taller and sturdier, exuding strength, while Bubblegum boasts longer side branches, hinting at its bushy growth. Both strains are shaping up beautifully, with their unique structures already showcasing the differences in their genetics.
Grow Characteristics
This week’s topping and trellis setup mark a turning point in their growth. Rolex Runtz seems well-suited for vertical growth, while Bubblegum’s broader side branches promise excellent lateral spread. Both strains are responding well to training, and we’re excited to see how they bounce back.
Expectations
Once the plants recover from topping, we’ll switch to flowering and watch the magic happen. Rolex Runtz’s height may give it an edge for upward growth, while Bubblegum’s strong branching hints at dense bud sites. We’re anticipating a dynamic and rewarding transition into the next phase!
Stay tuned for Week 5-6, where the differences really will start to show!
